Fevkalade is a visual communication design duo in Istanbul, working mostly on identity design, print design, editorial design, and information design since 2009.

Approach

We believe in a rational design process where decisions are based on objective reasons that emerge from the project brief and that can be articulated in meaningful and productive discussions. We take a creative problem-solving and system-constructing approach with little room for personal preferences.

Communicating effectively and gracefully is the key in every step of the design process: in constructing an accurate brief, in agreeing about the expectations of both sides, and in presenting, evaluating, and developing the design solutions. We value long-term partnerships where each party respects and learns from the other’s experience and expertise.

In our experience, good ideas don’t necessarily require magical moments of inspiration; they can be produced with hard work. We choose not to have a signature visual style but to take shape according to the criteria of the project, while always staying true to the principles of visual design and typography.

We are visual engineers with creative methods.

How we work

process_01

Introduction

We get to know you and your project. After coming to an agreement on the budget and the timeframe, we collect as much information as we can about the project, your perspective, and your expectations. This brief gives us the references and the reasons which will guide us in our journey.

Exploration

We enter into an intense period of exploration where we brainstorm conceptual and visual ideas based on the information we have. We choose the best ones among them, keeping a spectrum of different types of approaches, and develop them up to a point where they reveal their strengths.

Formation

We present our solutions to you along with our rationales behind them. Together we evaluate the alternatives, decide on a direction and keep working on it in order to achieve its full potential. Throughout this stage, we always try to make sure that all decisions are based on the brief and the objective criteria embedded in it.

Production

Once the visual concept fully matures and all the main elements of the system are in place, we design the various items required for the project so that everything is part of a harmonious family.
